Qiànrú

Qiànrú

Design concept:

The name of this mascot is Qiànrú which means nice smile.
The inspiration for the creation of this mascot is based on three basic characteristics:
1. The traditional Chinese shape of rattle. For centuries, rattles have been one of the first toys that babies play with. *Rattles can be made of wood, plastic or cloth.
2. The Chinese dragon, symbol of strength, kindness, security and luck
3. The Chinese ideogram 头 which is one of the two symbols that make up the word  汕头 (Shantou), the name of the city where Shantou Special Economic Zone is located.

Qiànrú gesture of greeting is inspired from the “Pioneer plaque” and the message of peace and friendship it represents. Based on scientific research by NASA and others the greeting through a raised right hand is considered a friendly greeting and a sign of good will.
The design has two basic colors. Turqoise  is a color that expresses a pure heart and a freshness, while encouraging a clear and sincere communication. The second color is orange that inspires, balances and liberates. It is the color of ideas and imagination and symbolizes brilliance, happiness, dynamism and enjoyment.

The material for the making of the mascot will depend on its intended use:
1. In the case of miniatures, probably intended for sale, the material proposed is wood, which is used for the traditional rattle.
2.In case the mascot is used as an outfit, the material will be cloth adapted onto a metal frame, so as to maintain the shape of the mascot. Regarding the eye, the proposed material is plastic.
